John Pellican began his career as a professional photographer immediately upon graduating high school and built a successful business that spanned over 20 years in Las Vegas, NV. He honed his craft by attending the West Coast School of Professional Photography on the campus of Brooks Institute in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA.
Known as a premier wedding photographer, his reputation also grew as a visionary in illustrative portraiture. His portrait style was a fusion of fashion and portrait photography enhanced by his prolific use of black and white, resulting in 98% of his portrait commissions being created solely in black and white.
After experiencing an artistic collapse, he moved his family to his home of origin, Southern California. With the birth of their second son and after an extended 6-year “vacation” in California, John, his wife Jennifer and their sons, Timothy and Michael, decided to move back to Jennifer’s hometown in Fincastle, VA.
The move to SW Virginia brought new enthusiasm to once again pick up his camera and to create new images.
